Empathic Futures app for iPhone and iPad

Empathic Futures is a research experiment that explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and human behaviour to develop ‘Empathic Intelligence’. 

- This July and August, we are conducting the first phase of our research. We invite 500 participants to chat for 5 days with an Empathic Intelligence that focuses on mobility and, more specifically, on transportation systems. You can chat with your E.I. in English or German.

- Through text conversations, your E.I. learns from you, helps you, understands your basic needs and – most importantly – develops a relationship with you. By training the E.I., you help give a personality to the system.

- Through engaging conversations, we build an archive of possible human-machine interactions. With this, we aim to gain a better understanding of how to create empathy between humans and machines.

- The results of the experiment will be showcased in an exhibition starting in November 2017 at the DRIVE Volkswagen Group Forum, inviting all curious individuals to examine, analyse and interact with the E.I. personalities. With your participation, we can collectively shape the most desirable future.

- The Empathic Futures research project is conducted by FELD studio for digital crafts and Volkswagen Group Future Center Europe.
